Hello CS World!

“First, solve the problem. Then, write the code.” - John Johnson

It was summer 2010 that I shifted course from BS Accountancy to BS Information Technology. At first I have so many doubts in my head like IT is a hard course, hard to pass and I'm afraid that I won't finish this course. But still I end up shifting course because I love Information Technology compared to Accountancy. To be honest I thought that Information Technology is just learning Adobe Photoshop, editing videos and filming. When I entered in this computer world I don't know what to do and thinks that I will not last long in this course. I conquered all my wrong thoughts. From a sophomore, now I am a senior.

At first I have no major subjects during summer. But when first semester started, my bloody life also started. My doubts about this course were true. BS - IT is a hard course, hard to pass, and you must need a sharp mind that can think fast what kind of algorithm in each problem the teacher gives. There's no course that is hard when you just study hard and do what a student should do. My first time to make a program is the most famous phrase that any programmer knows about it. "Hello World" -- It's like welcoming new students that are new to programming into the computer world. Some say it's like welcoming students to hell because of the hell-o-world. Yes, it's like a hell to those people who does not understand what the meaning of programming is. For those people who see the real meaning and loves programming, being here in this division is heaven. I experienced sleepless nights because of doing a project, assignments or even thinking of the algorithms given to us by the teacher.

In four semesters and three summer classes here in this division, I learned different programming language such as C, Java, MySQL and Visual Basic. The most programming language that I like most is MySQL and Visual Basic because it is easy to understand and not so complicated compared to the other languages. It takes time to learn this different programming language because they have different environment. I realized that being an IT it is very important that you know what programming language you're good at. If you know what your specialty is, then you must practice it so that you will become a professional in that specific language. Aside from the programming languages taught by the teachers in school, students must learn languages that are not introduced by the teachers. There are a lot of things that I still don't know. I will learn it and become a professional someday. It's so early to give up.
